Graduates for Business links graduates with the region’s small business community. The One NorthEast funded service is designed to help SMEs across the North East tap into the skills and ambition of recent graduates, while retaining the talent coming out of its Universities.

The initiative works across all sectors and has a track record of matching companies working in the digital media and creative industries with highly talented graduates. There are many incentives for both the company and the graduate:

From the employer’s point of view, GFB provides a free recruitment service via a team of dedicated placement officers who actively search for suitable candidates. Many of the businesses qualify for a subsidy of £70 per week for the first 15 weeks of employment.

For the graduate, it provides the opportunity to contribute to the development of an established company working in their area of expertise while earning a minimum salary of £14,000 per annum. The company benefits from the up-to-date specialist knowledge that the graduate brings to their business with 84% of placements leading to permanent positions.
