Sound & Vision Commissions Announced
This year’s Sound & Vision commission winners have been announced.
The £10,000 scheme which is run in partnership between Northern Film & Media, Generator North East and the Arts Council, brings the two creative worlds of film and music together. Now the scheme has commissioned seven films which will see north east filmmakers work with the music of the region’s top music makers.
This year’s commissions include My Heart Still Beats the Same, which was written by Alex Inskip and uses Chris Prosho’s piece ‘Nano’. Mark Griffiths’ Generation will use Paul Liddell’s ‘Gregorians’ and Plunge, written by Ross Philips, will incorporate Steve Jenkins’ ‘Chad Valley’.
The seven commissioned Sound & Vision films will soon be posted on the North East Movies website where the public will be invited to vote for their favourite. A gala screening will take place early in 2009 to showcase the films made. The winning musician and filmmaker will be awarded a prize of £3,000 to make a short film together.
