Interspace – with Hannah Campion

Time: 1.00pm – 2.00pm

Venue: Phoenix Building - G0.13
Interspace is brought to Culture on Campus by Hannah Campion, who was awarded an international artist residency in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008.
This experience had a profound impact on her practice and directly influenced her solo exhibition INTERSPACE at the Sandford Goudie Gallery in November 2009.
Her practice encompasses paintings, drawings, and installations. Paintings appear to escape from the traditional canvas surface and challenge their assumed edges, leading instinctively to the investigation of other spaces, planes and materials.
Seeking to challenge, influence and occupy both pictorial and ‘real’ space and utilising marks and forms to direct the viewer’s eye and body, some spaces in Hannah’s work can be entered and explored both physically and optically.
Hannah is an artist based in North East England who exhibits across the UK and internationally. Solo exhibitions have taken her to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, New York, London and Middlesbrough. Her recent awards include a NESTA Fellowship and Artist in Residence at Gallery TAKSU, Malaysia.
This event forms part of our free series of events celebrating Culture on Campus.
There’s no need to book – just come along.
